This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and protect the information you entrust to us, online or otherwise.

“Personal Information” uniquely identifies you or can identify you by combining it with other data. It includes your financial and account information, as well as email addresses, phone numbers and other information associated with you. OUR COLLECTION OF YOUR INFORMATION

When you request materials from Unbound or create an account with us, we collect Personal Information from you such as your name and contact information.

When you become an Unbound sponsor or donor, we may collect additional Personal Information, such as your payment information and contribution type. Your “payment information” includes credit or debit card information or banking information for electronic funds transfer (EFT). We also collect your name, address, phone number, and if your donation is made online, your email address.

We also collect demographic information about you from third parties. This information may include your interests, charitable activities, and preferences.

When you visit our website, we collect other data that may not be Personal Information, such as your IP address, your activity on the site, the websites you visited before and after our site, and the type of device you used to access our site.

Unbound may also collect information about special needs that our sponsored friends may have, including health information, to provide appropriate support and care to our sponsored friends. This information is not disclosed to any third party without the consent of the sponsored friend and/or his or her parent or guardian.



HOW WE PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

Your privacy is important to us. We seek to use reasonable organizational, technical and administrative measures to protect your Personal Information.

We limit use of your Personal Information to the internal purposes of Unbound and only to further our work and not the work of any other corporation or organization.

Bank and credit card information is used only to process your contributions and is not retained for other purposes. We retain such information as long as it is necessary to complete the sponsorship or donation transactions, or as legally or contractually required.

We are committed to protecting consumer credit card data in compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). We officially attest to our PCI compliance annually, and are on-record with all major credit card companies as meeting this standard. Although bank draft information is not subject to PCI regulations, we treat such data in the same manner.

We employ a variety of electronic security tools to monitor, scan, and test our systems to protect against unauthenticated electronic access to data. We use SSL encryption on all website connections. Any financial data keyed into our electronic systems is encrypted at all times.

Additionally, we follow strict password-protection guidelines, use secure firewalls to prevent unauthorized outside access to our servers and strictly restrict physical access to our data storage areas. We regularly conduct comprehensive security assessments.



OUR USE OF YOUR INFORMATION

We collect your Personal Information so that we can communicate with you regarding our charitable activities, provide promised or contracted services to support those activities, process data for internal administration, ensure data security, prevent fraud, and market our organization.

Specifically, your information allows us to complete transactions, respond to inquiries, and provide updated information to you regarding your sponsored friend and other events.

Unbound also uses your information to better understand your interests and to provide the best possible service to those who support us. Our employees and agents may view or access your Personal Information if necessary for the performance of their duties or obligations to Unbound, consistent with our purposes and subject to this Privacy Policy.

Payment information is used only for payment processing and is not retained for other purposes. We retain your payment information only as long as necessary to complete the sponsorship payments or donation or as otherwise legally or contractually required.

We use information from our website visitors to analyze their online behavior and administer our site more effectively, as described below. We may also combine such data with information you may provide if you become an Unbound sponsor or donor.

Like many other websites, our site uses “cookies” and web analytics software to track activity within our site. A cookie is a small text file stored on your computer, so we recognize you when you return to our site. The analytics software also tracks the site you just visited, which Unbound pages you visit, the type of device accessing our site and the locale of the computer for that IP address.

We use Google Ads Remarketing to advertise on other sites across the web. Remarketing helps us tailor Unbound ad content to you based on the parts of our website you have viewed. Google Ads does this through a tracking cookie, which does not identify you personally or allow access to your computer. If you do not wish to allow Unbound and Google to use this information to show you more relevant advertising, there are a couple things you can do:

Apart from these ad-specific choices, there are “do not track” or similar browser choices available to online users, but given the present lack of consensus of what constitutes an informed election, appropriate trigger or breadth of scope of such choice, our site will not operate any differently when a “do not track” signal is received.

At times, in relation to specific marketing efforts, our site will use tracking pixels that operate in a similar manner to the Google Ads cookies described above.



WHEN WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We do not sell, rent, or lease your Personal Information to others so that they may contact you for commercial purposes, nor do we send such mailings on behalf of others.

We will not disclose any of your Personal Information except when we have your permission or as necessary:

  • To comply with our legal obligations, enforce our Child and Elder Protection Policy, Conditions of Use, this Privacy Policy or otherwise to protect the rights, property or safety of our operations, donors, sponsors or sponsored friends.

In addition, we may share aggregate, non-individual information, incapable of identifying a particular person, with third parties for lawful purposes.



HOW TO REVIEW, CORRECT, UPDATE OR OPT OUT

Unbound offers sponsors, donors and others the ability to contact us by email, telephone or mail to review and update their Personal Information and have inaccuracies corrected in contact information, financial information, unique identifiers or transaction information. Registered users of our website may also review and edit some of their Personal Information online.

Emails from us to you will include a link to opt out from receiving further electronic communications from Unbound. At places on our website where you give us your personal information, you may indicate your interest in receiving our communications or you may opt out of receiving those communications. If, at any point, you decide to opt out of receiving communications from us, you may use the contact information below to opt out.

To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before providing you with this information or updating your information in our system. By notifying Unbound whenever you have a change to your personal contact information — email address, mailing address, phone number, etc. — you will help us make prompt and efficient changes to your records. This helps us keep our administrative costs low and use more of the funds contributed to help the children, youth and aging persons we serve.
